Pinehurst has installed an emergency backup generator. Residents can enjoy all the comforts of their homes even when a power outage occurs. The entire building is hooked up to the generator so that all lights and heat will continue to operate in a power failure. The transition to generator power is virtually seamless; therefore, many residents do not even notice when an area wide outage occurs.
Our community is staffed twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. The staff is always available to help residents with a variety of issues. After regular business hours the staff ensures all building doors are locked and all hallways and grounds are well lit. Our residents say this provides them with a sense of safekeeping.
Pinehurst is equipped with a state of the art fire safety system. Each apartment houses a smoke detector and a heat sensor. The building system is directly linked to local emergency personnel. This ensures a quick response time to fire emergencies. Residents and staff practice fire drill procedures at least quarterly through out the year. All building fire equipment is inspected on a regular basis.
A variety of health and wellness seminars are held at Pinehurst. This gives our residents the opportunity to educate themselves to pertinent issues. Some of the topics include: identity theft, renters insurance, estate planning, living with arthritis, fire safety and avoiding falls. Education on these topics and others gives our residents a sense of empowerment.
Twice weekly we host exercise classes free of charge to Pinehurst residents. There are two types of classes a traditional low impact class and a chair exercise class. Outside guests are welcome to attend class for a nominal charge. Studies show exercise on a regular basis can increase stability and balance thus decreasing the incidence of falls. Many residents also find it helps to lessen the pain of arthritis.
